Card Player – On Thursday, the World Series of Poker announced the dates for the 2014 summer festival.
The 45th running of the WSOP will begin on Tuesday, May 27 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It’s the 10th consecutive year the event has been held at the Rio.
Action will run for 49 consecutive days, concluding with formation of the final table of the main event on July 14. The main event is slated to run over ten consecutive days starting July 5.
In addition to the main event and other typical bracelet events, the WSOP will be running a “Millionaire Maker” on May 31. The $1,500 buy-in was held for the first time in 2013, and attracted 6,343 entrants. The tournament guaranteed a first-place prize of seven figures.
On June 29, the “Big One for One Drop”, the $1 million buy-in no-limit hold’em charity event, makes its return. This seven-figure buy-in was held for the first time in 2012 and didn’t run last year. The “Little One for One Drop” is also on the 2014 schedule. It’s a $1,111 rebuy.
According to the WSOP, the full list of bracelet events is currently being finalized. Sixty-plus official gold bracelet events are expected. The full schedule is expected to be released sometime in January. Stay tuned to CardPlayer.com for more information.
