The World Poker Tour has signed a new partnership deal with Mexican multimedia conglomerate TV Azteca, a Grupo Salinas company. This comes as part of WPT’s ongoing efforts towards global expansion. The five-year strategic alliance will see WPT’s extensive poker content library distributed in Mexico and across Latin America.
TV Azteca sports division is called Azteca Deportes. It produces sports events and regular sports programming aired on the Azteca Uno and Azteca 7 networks in Mexico and on Azteca América in the United States.
Under the terms of the agreement, 17 seasons of the WPT will reach tens of millions of viewers, giving a huge boost to the poker brand’s international presence. Both companies will work together to come up with original programs for the Spanish-speaking community.
The partnership is expected to provide enormous publicity to World Poker Tour, considering TV Azteca’s wide reach, offering televised content via its free-to-air stations to over 95 percent of the Mexican market. Additional plans by the multimedia giant include the development of a new social poker app dedicated to Latin American players.
This will be done with the help of WPT. This story on the new World Poker Tour deal in Mexico originally appeared on the Legal Gambling and the Law website.
