iGaming Business – Bookmaker William Hill is offering future wagering on the 2014 Kentucky Derby horseracing event for customers in the US state of Nevada.
Wagers on the Kentucky Derby can be placed at any William Hill Race Book location in Nevada.
Honor Code and Tap It Rich currently head the list of hopefuls with William Hill offering prices of 50-1 on each horse.
William Hill listed Orb, the 2013 Derby winner, at opening odds of 150-1 before the horse entered the race at 5-1.
The 2014 event will take place at Churchill Down, Kentucky on May 3, 2014.
In addition, William Hill is also offering a $5,000 (€3,704) Twin Quinella jackpot for the second day of this year’s Breeders’ Cup weekend, which takes place from November 1-2.
A number of head-to-head proposition bets will also be available on both days.
“We’ve timed the release of our Derby futures to donate our customers a chance to lock in prices before the huge races over Breeders’ Cup weekend,” William Hill US director of trading, Nick Bogdanovich, said.
Meanwhile, media agencies MediaCom and UM have pitched to William Hill for a lucrative media account in Australia.
The mumbrella.com.au website reports that following its purchase of online betting business Tom Waterhouse, William Hill is to consolidate media buying across its Sportingbet, Centrebet and Tom Waterhouse brands.
UM is the incumbent on the Sportingbet and Centrebet accounts, which are reported to be worth between AUS$10-20 million.
MediaCom has held the Tom Waterhouse account, thought to be worth AUS$20m, since the website’s launch.
However, media spend has been decreasing in the wake of controversy surrounding the integration of betting with sports broadcasting.
Both agencies have declined to comment on the story.
