US Internet Gambling Arrests as Businesses Raided

State BCI agents along with the Medina County Sheriff’s Office made Internet gambling arrests after they raided two alleged illegal gambling establishments Tuesday morning. The owner was arrested. The raids were at Cyber City on Medina Road in Medina and at Cyber 777′s on Pearl Road in Brunswick.

“These are not internet cafes,” said Attorney General Mike DeWine. “The joint investigation shows that these locations are operating as illegal casinos with no regulatory oversight.” The owner of the businesses was taken into custody. A search warrant was served at his home and at another business maintained by him in Akron.

Authorities say he is accused of violating the Ohio Casino Control Act, which states that anyone running a casino gaming operation outside of the four voter-approved casinos violates the law. “Today’s raid sends a strong message that illegal gaming operations will not be allowed,” said Karen Huey, Ohio Casino Control Director of Enforcement.

Huey, along with Median Sheriff Tom Miller and Brunswick Police Chief Carl DeForest, said law enforcement officials have been investigating the businesses for about a year. You can read more about these Internet gambling arrests when you visit the Fox 8 website.
