US Gambling Generates $5 Billion in July

The amazing run for US gambling operators continued into the summer, with the month of July producing nearly a 3% increase in profits from the previous year. Those numbers made it the third highest month for gross profits of all time, according to data from our friends at the American Gaming Association.

Profits for retail gambling in America just crept over the $5 billion mark in July, making it the 4th month this year to see such numbers. That means we should see another record setting year for US gambling, as the latest numbers bring year-to-date revenue numbers to well over $34 billion, which is up 15.5% from 2021.

Of the 31 states to operate live commercial gaming a year ago, 21 of them reported growth in their gaming revenue compared to last year. In fact, only three states and the District of Columbia reported less gaming profits for the period.

Statistical information on travel indicates that land based casinos got a boost from the return of summer vacation travel in July. , with Las Vegas realizing 3.5 million visitors in July, which marked an increase of nearly 6% from the year before.

Not to be outdone, US gambling revenue from sports betting and iGaming also continued to grow. In fact, commercial sportsbooks located in casinos and mobile apps from across 25 jurisdictions combined for a take of almost $360 million in July, which was an increase of 35% all by themselves.
