Unibet Sportsbook enforces controversial rule

unibetSBR – A Unibet Sportsbook manager has informed SBR that the player has now been paid, but his account will remain closed. A Unibet Sportsbook (SBR rating C-) player has claimed that a €868 balance was confiscated. The player indicated in a complaint filed with SBR that his account with Unibet Sportsbook was fully verified.

According to the complaint, Unibet accused of breaking section 2.3 of their terms and conditions – a controversial rule.

That particular section of the Unibet homepage allows for the sportsbook to confiscate winnings for any reason, at its own discretion, and at all times, invalidate a player’s balance, providing no explanation if it wishes. Unibet Sportsbook has come under fire before for the enforcement of the heavy-handed rule.

Account Rules: 2.3 (excerpt)

“Unibet reserves the right, at its own discretion, at all times, to:
Decline to open a Unibet Account and/or to close an existing Unibet Account, without any explanation whatsoever;
Forfeit and/or confiscate funds available on a Unibet Account and/or refuse to honour a claim, in the event that, directly or indirectly, the Unibet Rules have been violated and/or other unauthorised activities have occurred in connection with a betting event and/or the operation of a Unibet Account. This is subject to any of the said events being in connection with the Unibet Account and/or the claim in question;”

SBR has followed up with a Unibet Sportsbook manager on the complaint. The issue remains open.
