Turkey confirms National Lottery tender launch

turkeyiGaming Business – Turkey’s Privatisation Authority has confirmed the opening of a new tender for the privatisation of the country’s National Lottery.

According to the HurriyetDailyNews.com website, potential bidders have been set a deadline of February 13, 2014 to submit their offer.

Bidders can make pre-qualification applications up until January 30, 2014.

The terms of the tender state that only real persons and joint venture groups can take part in the tender.

Bidders will be also required a bid bond of $10 million (€7.4 million) in order to participate.

In 2009, Turkey dropped plans to privatise the lottery after two bidders were unable to meet the $1.6 billion minimum asking price.

Capital city Ankara instead opted to sell licenses for games operated by the lottery.
