Tropicana Las Vegas Implosion Date Set

There have been educated guesses about when Tropicana Las Vegas would be brought down in a controlled series of explosions. And let’s be real here… everybody loves watching the destruction, even if you sorta likes the old place. But time marches on, and Vegas waits for no one. So, here we are.

The hotel towers will be imploded during the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 9th. The event will clear the way for a brand new $1.5 billion stadium for the Oakland Athletics. These details have now been confirmed by Bally’s Corporation. But this will not be your run of the mill implosion, as the company plans an entire party around the event.

The Tropicana Las Vegas implosion will be accompanied by a commemorative ceremony featuring a drone light show. The celebration will begin on the evening of Tuesday, October 8th, and there will even be a fireworks show put on by Grucci Pyrotechnique before the fireworks of the implosion.

Of course, all of this is dependent on Clark County approving the a permit application, and that may not come until a week before the scheduled event. Nothing like cutting it close, huh? In truth, though, this is probably more of a formality than an actual problem.

Also, before any construction can begin, the stadium financing must be worked out. That may be the most scary part of this whole project. And agreements with the Las Vegas Stadium Authority and Clark County must also be reached. But for now, it looks like the Tropicana Las Vegas is coming down in the early morning hours of October 9th.
