iGaming Business – The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has announced that more than 32,000 players have signed up for new online gambling accounts during the first week of operations in the US state.
According to the TotallyGaming, com website, a total of 5,000 players registered on Thanksgiving alone.
Regulators said that some users had created accounts on multiple gambling websites, something that has helped to inflate the sign-up figure.
Regulators have been unable to confirm how many actual bets had been placed.
New Jersey launched a full online gambling service on November 26 following a five-day soft launch trial period.
Six Atlantic City casinos were handed initial approval for the full launch, while the Golden Nugget Atlantic City opted to wait a week to go ahead with a full launch in order to work out technical problems.
New Jersey is now only the third US state to offer online gambling alongside Nevada and Delaware.
