iGaming Business – Australian lottery and gambling company Tatts Group is re-examining a deal to pay to race information against the backdrop of an inquiry by the Queensland State Government.
The financial agreement between Racing Queensland Limited and Tatts has been the focus of the Queensland Racing Inquiry, which resumed on Monday morning.
According to the Courier Mail newspaper, RQL has already presented an invoice to Tatts management for more than AUS$100 million (€69 million/$93.3 million), but the matter is likely to end up in court.
Counsel Assisting, James Bell, QC, said that the existing deal allows Tatts to offset costs paid to other states and added that the arrangement had cost the industry about AUS$500,000 per month.
The inquiry is looking into the failure of the former Racing Queensland board to act on legal advice that was given back in 2008 to pursue Tatts in an effort to recoup the money.
