September was an amazing month for sports betting in New York, which was the first month of the NFL season. The kickoff of professional football translated to damn near a $1.3 billion handle for the state, which was almost 45% higher than August. This is the second straight month that sportsbooks there have shown a positive turn around. Prior to this, they had seen a four-month slide. Sports Betting in New York Approved
Gambling regulators have approved regulations to allow sports betting in New York. The new rules will allow wagers on sporting events at Rivers Casino, Resorts World Catskills, Tioga Downs and Del Lago Casino. Now that regulations are finally in place, each gaming property can apply for licenses this summer, and hopefully be up and running in time for the NFL season this fall.
