FanDuel NHL Sports Betting Partnership
The National Hockey League (NHL) has signed a fantasy sports and sports betting partnership with Paddy Power Betfair’s FanDuel brand. On Monday, the NHL announced a ‘multi-year’ deal that enshrines FanDuel as the league’s “exclusive official daily fantasy partner and official sports betting partner.” The lack of exclusivity on the sports betting side reflects the similar partnership the NHL signed with casino operator MGM Resorts last week. The deal will allow FanDuel to offer DFS players exclusive NHL content and prizes, while also tailoring free-play single-game DFS contests for marquee NHL events. As for the real-money sports betting side, FanDuel…
West Virginia Sports Betting Takes Over $7 Million in September
West Virginia sports betting handled nearly $7.5 million in bets during the first full month of regulation , although its private club sportsbook proved a bit of a bust. Tuesday saw the West Virginia Lottery Commission report the results of the state’s legal wagering activity for September, the first full month of betting since Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races popped the state’s betting cherry in the last week of August. The Commission said September’s wagering handle hit $7.44m, with Hollywood Casino’s William Hill-powered sportsbook handling $7.07m of that total. The Greenbrier Resort, a members-only facility owned by…
Sports Betting and eSports Converge with Online Gambling
Sports betting and esports have been on course to converge with the gambling industry ever since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down PASPA. The decision of the court meant a lot of things, including the notion that esports betting could finally step out of the shadows in the legal sports betting arenas. When the federal government banned online gambling back in 2007, it shut down a lot of the online gambling operations by restricting payments. Venture Beat spoke with Joseph Pappano, managing director of Worldplay Gaming, at the recent Money 20/20 event in Las Vegas. They discussed betting on sports,…
The NHL Sports Betting Deal with MGM
The NHL sports betting deal has altered their position in America. The league reached a deal with MGM Resorts to share game information, which will help enable sports betting data. The NHL now joins the National Basketball Association in working with MGM and embracing betting on sports. This week’s special offer is for Casino Cruise.
NHL Sports Betting Partnership with MGM
A multiyear NHL Sports Betting agreement with MGM Resorts International has been announced, with data for use in betting. This is the second major U.S. professional sports league to strike a deal with the casino giant since the Supreme Court opened the way to expanded gambling last spring. Las Vegas-based company is the league’s first official sports betting partner, just as the MGM-NBA sports betting agreement reached in July. As part of the NHL Sports Betting agreement, MGM gains access to proprietary data that could eventually include puck and player tracking information once that goes through a testing phase. Access to…
West Virginia Sports Betting Rejects Integrity Fees
The plans for West Virginia sports betting have dealt a blow to the major US sports leagues after integrity fees were not included in the state’s revised betting rules. Sports betting is already live at two of the state’s five casinos – with mobile betting expected soon – however firms have been operating since August on temporary rules. The state’s Lottery Commission approved the final regulations after reviewing 18 suggested amendments. It rejected all seven proposals put forward by major sports leagues, including a plan for West Virginia sports betting to collect integrity fees of 1% of turnover put forward by the…
