Baseball Players Freak Out Over Sports Betting
Executives and players across professional sports in America have been watching the expansion of gambling with concern… and Major League Baseball is no exception. In March, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred expressed his preference for a federal regulation of sports betting rather than the state-by-state approach, and said he views sports betting as a “great source of fan engagement’’ and “a positive’’ to his sport “in general.’’ “I’m a realist,” Manfred said, via BizJournals.com. “Would I prefer to have a single integrated structure from the federal government? Oregon Sports Betting Pushed by State Lottery
Lottery officials intend to launch Oregon sports betting in time for football season. The lottery hopes to put the state at the forefront of a national sports betting bonanza after a U.S. Supreme Court decision last May cleared the way for every state to get into the business. Iowa’s legislation allows residents 21 years…
Another Hope for Mobile Indiana Sports Betting
After disagreement over the possibility of remote gambling, mobile Indiana sports betting is looking more and more like a real possibility. The state conference committee is reinserting provisions for the apps into the bill as it approaches the finish line. Disagreements across chambers primarily involved non-sports aspects of the bill concerning adjustments to casino licenses and location. As expected, most of Monday’s hearing orbited around those provisions. Mobile was one of the few sticking points within the sports betting language. The Senate bill authorized statewide mobile wagering as passed, but narrow opposition in the House nearly killed the bill entirely….
