State lawmakers continue to move forward a bill that would allow North Carolina sports betting on tribal land, but no where else in the rest of the state. The legislation will likely get a hearing on the House floor in the coming days after passing a final committee Wednesday. On Tuesday, the House Commerce Committee gave its approval to the bill, which would also allow horse wagering on tribal casino land. North Carolina Sports Betting Bill Makes Progress

A North Carolina sports betting bill that would allow the activity on tribal lands has been passed by the state Senate, and transferred to the House of Representatives. S154, introduced by Republican Senator Jim Davis, would allow tribal gaming facilities to offer sports betting alongside other forms of gambling currently permitted under existing compacts with the state. It was passed by the Senate at its second reading, with 43 Senators voting in favor and seven against.
