Online poker advocates are hoping that the legalization of online poker in Pennsylvania will be a catalyst in other states, including Pennsylvania’s northern neighbor, New York. New York Assembly Folds Online Poker for 2017
Those hoping that New York will legalize online poker this year shouldn’t bet on it. Though the Senate recently passed the bill, Assembly Democrats, who discussed the issue behind closed doors last week, are not expected to take it up before the legislative session’s scheduled end Wednesday. “There was some opposition; we’ll pick it up next year more than likely,” said bill sponsor Assemblyman Gary Pretlow (D-Westchester County). New York Online Poker Bill Adds “Bad Actor” Clause
A bill that could lead to the legalisation of online poker in the US state of New York has been amended to include reference to so-called ‘bad actors’. Put forward by State Senator John Bonacic, Senate Bill S3898 has already been approved by the New York Senate Finance Committee and will soon go to a full vote at the State Senate. New York State Online Poker Bill Reintroduced
New York State Senator John Bonacic has reintroduced his online poker bill that was passed by the Senate last year. The bill, S 3898, was introduced on Jan. 27 and referred to the New York Senate Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee. The committee is chaired by Bonacic. The bill is expected to sail through the Senate – it passed by a 53-5 margin in 2016. However, the Assembly will be a different story, as I detailed in this column.
