New Jersey officials cannot put a stop to sports wagers, but they hope to “shine a light” on it by asking a court to legalize sports betting at casinos and racetracks, a lawyer said in a high-stakes hearing Wednesday before a federal appeals court. New Jersey is set to begin the next phase of their long legal case aimed at bringing sports betting to the boardwalk of Atlantic City.
