Las Vegas Boasts World’s Tallest Observation Wheel
Shining bright on the Las Vegas Strip, the 550-foot-tall High Roller is a true standout at The LINQ’s outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment promenade. Measuring 520 feet in diameter, the High Roller eclipses both the London Eye and Singapore Flyer. Facing north and south (parallel to Las Vegas Boulevard), the wheel takes 30 minutes to complete one full revolution and features 28 glass-enclosed cabins with broad views of the famed resort city. Each spherical cabin can hold up to 40 people. There are benches on either side of the cabin, with plenty of floor space in between. But we imagine…
Tropicana Purchase Approved by Nevada Regulators
The Nevada Gaming Commission state regulatory body has given its approval to Penn National Gaming’s earlier-announcement of the Tropicana purchase. As reported by iGaming Business in April, US casino and racetrack operator Penn National struck a deal worth $360 million (€314.2 million) to take ownership of the facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the time of the original announcement, Penn National said it would fund the Tropicana purchase deal through an expansion of its existing credit facilities and cash in hand. The Tropicana Las Vegas boasts a 50,000 square foot casino as well as more than 1,000 gaming positions and…

Video Game Gambling to Compete with Slots in Las Vegas
Video games hold more interest for the current generation than slot machines. These games of skill usually end in bragging rights only, but Nevada is trying to find a way to bring gambling to the new generation. High scores could start paying out for the best video game players in casinos, according to a June 30, 2015 reveal. Plans to offer arcade video games with winnings paid out for the gamblers skills are currently in the works. Nevadans are working towards regulations to make the changes happen. A bill with rules is being drafted and will be handed to the…
No New Las Vegas Hotels on Strip?
It might seem like an odd statement coming from Jim Murren, chairman and CEO of the Strip’s largest casino company. For now, MGM Resorts International — which operates Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, CityCenter and others — is done building hotel-casinos on the Strip. “It’s not my expectation during my career here that we will build another casino resort in Las Vegas,” said Murren, who became CEO in 2008. Before taking that role, he was MGM’s president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer for over a decade. During his career, MGM bought Mirage Resorts, Mandalay Resort Group…

Located on a 35-acre land parcel at the corner of Tropicana Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard, the Tropicana boasts a 50,000 square foot casino as well as more than 1,000 gaming positions and a sports book. The transaction and credit facility expansions remain subject to regulatory…
