Vegas Face Masks Now Required for Some Games

Players visiting Sin City certainly don’t want to hear this, but the powers that be at the Nevada Gaming Control Board now say Las Vegas face masks must be worn at certain games that do not separate players with plexiglass. Nevada Governor to Make Reopening Announcement

The long awaited reopening announcement about Las Vegas casinos could come on Tuesday, May 26th. Governor Steve Sisolak has a scheduled press conference to reveal his plans for the next phase of the state’s reopening plan from his “Roadmap to Recovery”. Casino Workers Unions Want More Virus Protection

All across America, casino workers are asking for more protective equipment from employers, and for new cleaning and social distancing policies in place before they agree to return to work. Two of the country’s largest casino worker unions, Unite Here and the Culinary Workers Union, representing workers from casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, New Orleans and Biloxi, Mississippi, held a video news conference Tuesday to call for all workers to be tested at the casinos’ expense before returning back to their jobs. Vegas Mayor Ignores Guidelines in Rush to Reopen The Strip

This Week in Gambling reported last week that the mayor of Las Vegas is in a mad rush to reopen The Strip and convention centers. Her comments contradict the guidelines for reopening issued by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, who will ultimately be the authority to sign off on any plan to open the doors of the casinos. The board has a list of procedures in place that businesses should follow before reopening, which include complying with all prescribed local, state and federal COVID-19 heath requirements.
