Resorts in Nevada have yet to recover from the shut down earlier this year. Now, Governor Sisolak is considering new Las Vegas casino closures as the pandemic continues to escalate. Earlier this week the Governor communicated that closing down casinos in the state for a second time was a very real possibility. He said protecting the state was important, but that his he decision was like “walking a tightrope to balance public health and economic impacts”. Just when things seemed to be returning to some normalcy, word has come of more Las Vegas casino closures. This time, however, it’s only a handful of casinos… and this time they are only closing during the week. Amid the continuing (and growing) pandemic, tourism has not returned in full force to The Strip, so it does make perfect financial sense that properties with less traffic would want to optimize their profits.
