Kansas Sports Betting Bill for New Year
A Kansas sports betting bill could be put forth within weeks as state’s lawmakers continue to hear evidence about its potential impact, according to Representative Jan Kessinger. Kessinger, whose sports betting bill died in committee earlier this year, said he plans to present new proposals soon after the Special Committee on Federal and State Affairs reports its findings following the hearings, which conclude December 13th. He said he also expects the committee itself to draft its own legislation. Fantasy Sports Now Legal in Kansas
Kansas State Governor Sam Brownback has signed a bill that will legalise fantasy sports gaming activities in the US state. Having received heavy support from the public and government figures, Bill HB 2155 was passed in the state senate by a vote of 37-1. Signed by Governor Brownback on Tuesday, the legislation will now allow for operators to begin offering fantasy sports services in the state. In addition to fantasy sports activities, the bill includes other pieces of legislature for charitable gaming, bingo, raffles and the lottery.
