Tribal Chairman to Testify at California Assembly Hearing on Internet Poker
This Week in Gambling – Robert Smith, Treasurer of the CTBA Board and Chairman of the Pala Band of Luiseno Indians, will testify at the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization, during their informational hearing on Internet poker. The iPoker hearing is set for Wednesday, April 23 at 1:30 pm, in State Capitol, Room 4202. The hearing, was called by AGO Chair Isadore Hall, III, to promote a better understanding of the iPoker issue. California Tribal Business Alliance – Recent accounts in the media indicate that PokerStars is in partnership negotiations with the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and three large Southern California Card Clubs to offer online poker in California. Bill Puts Native American Sacred Sites at Risk
Press Release – The California Tribal Business Alliance (CTBA) is opposed to the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act of 2013, H.R. 687. H.R. 687 would authorize a land swap in Arizona between the federal government and the Resolution Copper mining company in order to facilitate the extraction of mineral resources from government lands. CTBA recognizes that there are a number of significant fiscal and public policy implications surrounding the legislation.
