William Hill hit by football results in first quarter
iGaming Business – UK bookmaker William Hill has cited two “substantial” loss-making weeks driven by football results as one of the main reasons for a year-on-year drop in profit during the three months to March 31, 2014. The company reported that operating profit for the first quarter was down 14% on the same period last year. Retail suffered the most with a 25% drop while online operations also fell 6%. Yahoo – The 28-year-old has been suspended for six months after being found guilty by a Rugby Football League operational rules tribunal of breaching the sport’s rules relating to gambling. Five held for betting on Asia Cup final in Mumbai
Times of India – Five men were arrested for betting on a cricket match from a flat at Versova’s Yari Road on Saturday evening. The accused were betting on the Asia Cup final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. A raid was conducted around 4.45pm in flat 303 of Shiv Shakti society by the Social Service Branch (SSB) of Mumbai police. Those held are Rajendra Kaul alias Jojo, Rahul Kumar Tuli, Rajendra Sanchla, Ramesh Nohani and Asim Hanif Khan.
