New casino games are being invented today by students at UNLV, with many of them too young to even gamble. They’re enrolled in the class “Gaming Innovation Program” at the university, and in in its first year the class has been able to produced more than twelve new offerings for casinos.
Those games include “888 Baccarat,” a non-commission version of baccarat which incorporates elements of Chinese culture. “Color War,” which is an easy-to-play table game based on the color of the cards dealt. Plus, “Flip Card Blackjack” where a card is dealt face down under the side-bet when the player receives a blackjack.
Dean of the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, Stowe Shoemaker, tells ABC News that it’s not possible to describe these games in greater detail because all are still going through the patent process. Once they have received full patent protection for these new casino games additional details will be released.
The UNLV program is the brainchild of Mark Yoseloff, Ph.D., a member of the board of trustees who holds more 100 gaming patents himself. He is also a former chairman and chief executive officer of SHFL Entertainment, a leader in the gaming industry.
