The NCAA has been fighting sports betting for years, and now they have another reason to oppose it. A match fixing incident in New York has been tied to organized crime, according to a US District Court. Also, we have another new game review to share. You can also watch on YouTube.
Hello players and thanks for joining me on another edition of This Week in Gambling, and today I’m gonna make you a show you can’t refuse, as we’re talking about sports betting, and… the Mafia!
This week’s big story involves a US District Court in the state of New York charging an individual with attempted match-fixing… an individual who they say is a member of an organized crime family… Their words! Not mine! Prosecutors say that Benny Bifalco tried to bribe members of a men’s NCAA basketball team in an attempt to get them to throw a game! And that Benny is a member of the Mafia! But but hey hey… We don’t even know that such an organization really exists!
Meanwhile you can just bet that the NCAA is going to be all over this like stink on shit! They’ve been pushing to get people to stop betting on their games for some time now, and this may give them the ammunition they need. Pretty convenient timing. A couple of weeks ago I told you about a sports betting bill that had been introduced last year that was making a comeback this year. That bill was being pushed by two senators… one of whom is from New York… New York?
Additionally this alleged bribery took place in December of 2018… almost a year ago but only now… now are we learning of the details! Now as the senator from New York pushes his sports betting bill! Now as the NCAA begins to push their agenda! Now we’re learning all the details of this crime from New York! What are the odds?
For a couple of weeks now I’ve been telling you all that I was heading to Las Vegas to attend the Global Gaming Expo… and that’s where I am right now. Well I mean, not right now right… Now I’m filming this in my home studio in front of a green screen picture of Las Vegas. No really, I’m not in Vegas… Look, see? Green! And we’re back! The magic of Technology! But as you’re watching this I’m actually in Las Vegas filming… and what’s really weird is when I’m down in Las Vegas I’ll also be in front of a green screen… but in the background it’ll be a picture of my home.
While I’m in Las Vegas I’m going to be filming a lot of new stuff for you guys, including some game reviews… like this week’s review for the Buffalo Diamond slot machine from our friends at Aristocrat. This is the 10 year anniversary game for the Buffalo slots family. It comes with a unique diamond shaped real configuration and a $500,000 wide-area progressive jackpot. There are so many things that make this game special that you just have to see it. Check out the full review by following the direct link below this video.
And with that I’m out of here! Time for me to pack and get on that jet plane. If you’re heading to Vegas next week look for me, and if you see me on the strip or at the convention… don’t throw things at me, please! Not again! I’m fragile, and my ego can’t handle it.
