iGaming Business – Mobile entertainment content provider PlayPhone has entered into a new partnership with mobile messenger application Tango in order to expand the international reach of its gaming network.
Under the partnership, PlayPhone’s global gaming network will now be accessible within Tango’s messaging application.
The deal will also enable Tango members to access the network through direct carrier billing and via one-tap access in PlayPhone’s carrier game stores.
In addition, PlayPhone said its automatic server updates eliminate the need for Tango members to update their app.
Future plans also include deeper integration of Tango’s social graph with PlayPhone’s recommendation engine to further boost mobile gaming.
The firms said the new deal marks the first-ever plug-in mobile game store for an over-the-top (OTT) communications app.
“Partnering with Tango is a historic moment for PlayPhone because it represents a significant expansion not only for our overall footprint, but in the type of segment that can optimally support our gaming portal,” PlayPhone chief marketing officer Anders Evju said.
“Our ‘Game Store Plug-In’ for messenger apps and the corresponding increase of gamers in our global gaming community supports our ongoing efforts to provide a superior mobile gaming experience for PlayPhone gamers across the planet.”
Renato Iwersen, vice-president of strategic partnerships at Tango, added: “PlayPhone’s massive gaming network and relationships with leading mobile carriers and game developers enable Tango to provide new ways for customers to connect and engage with one another.”
