Press TV – A police force’s officers and staff in Britain have been blocked from websites with porn and gambling content 2,700 times in three months, a new report shows.
The force said the “vast majority” of recorded blocks from pages with inappropriate content relate to pop-up advertisements on legitimate sites such as local newspapers.
Deputy Chief Constable David Zinzan said the force has “very strict internet security policies” and uses software to prevent attempts to access gambling or pornography.
He also said “a tiny percentage” of the 6,000-strong workforce have been disciplined in the last few years.
“If continuous attempts are made to access blocked websites we have the systems in place to ‘dig deeper’ if required, though that’s rarely necessary and at this moment in time there are no current ongoing investigations around genuine inappropriate internet access,” Zinzan added.
Recently, official records revealed that lawmakers at the Houses of Parliament had tried to access pornographic websites more than 300,000 times in the past year.
Around 5,000 people are believed to work on the British parliamentary estate. Based on recent revelations, every MP, peer or staff at the Houses of Parliament has visited adult content sites 60 times in average over the past 12 months to July.
