Online poker anniversary suggests boom for Nevada

ultimate pokerMy News 4 – Ultimatepoker.com turns one-year-old on Wednesday. The first regulated, real-money online poker site in the United States led Nevada’s charge into online gaming. Online gaming in the Silver State is booming. Since the first regulated pay-to-play poker website in America launched a year ago, two more operating real-money poker websites have also started.

“Ultimate was the first,” said Nevada State Gaming Control Board Chairman A.G. Burnett. “Right now, the three internet poker websites collected $926,000 is revenues for last month.”  The Nevada State Gaming Control Board said the numbers keep growing. “For the first 11 months of operation, which is all of the time Ultimate has been operating in the state of Nevada, the total revune has been close to $10 million.”

Burnett said the sites have been operated very well, and online gaming has been a big boom to our economy. Burnett also believes online gaming is not affecting land-based casinos, but actually helping them. “I think it’s going to be an enhancing-type of activity where more players who are interested in interactive poker are actually brought to the strip and northern Nevada to play land-based poker tournments.”
