Efforts to regulate New York mobile sports betting have once again found their way to the state legislature, thanks to our old friend Joseph Addabbo. The State Senator has now called on Governor Andrew Cuomo to legalize the activity before the end of this year.
The Senator said there was a severe deficit with the State budget before the Coronavirus crisis, and he estimates New York could potentially make up $200 million a year. This is a much different situation that back in January, when using mobile devices to place sports bets looked hopeless for 2020.
Addabbo also pointed out that New York residence are simply driving to New Jersey in order to make sports bets, both at casinos and on mobile devices. You can read more about the latest efforts on mobile sports betting in New York at Yogo Net.
