There has been a lot of speculation over the past several days about when opening Las Vegas would be safe. Even the Mayor chimed in with some optimistic (but not very rational) ideas of her own. But the state Gaming Control Board says that any decision to welcome visitors back to the Strip and Fremont Street will be based on science.
The Board has now released a 6-page report which contains 18-points on the specific procedures for reopening casinos after their temporary closures due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The policy, posted late Tuesday on the Control Board’s website, describes a streamlined process that will enable companies to reinstate the registration of casino employees laid off or furloughed during the pandemic.
The memo also provides for companies to offer phased openings of different parts of resorts. Company executives have indicated they aren’t expecting all areas in casinos to open at the same time. You can find more on the criteria and steps for opening Las Vegas at the Review-Journal.
