Just when things seemed to be returning to some normalcy, word has come of more Las Vegas casino closures. This time, however, it’s only a handful of casinos… and this time they are only closing during the week.
Amid the continuing (and growing) pandemic, tourism has not returned in full force to The Strip, so it does make perfect financial sense that properties with less traffic would want to optimize their profits.
The casinos not open during the week are Park MGM, the Encore, the Palazzo, the LINQ and Planet Hollywood. The properties are still accepting reservations for weekend stays Friday through Sunday.
Currently, Las Vegas hotel occupancy during the middle of the week for September was just 39%, which is down from nearly 50% over the same time last year. Weekend stays for guests were still at 66%, which is still down 30% from September 2019.
