Michigan Internet Gambling Killed by Governor

Michigan Internet gambling has been killed as 2018 draws to an end. In a decision that has surprised many, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder vetoed online gambling in the state as one of his last official acts.

Just days before leaving office, the Republican Governor acted on a number of bills, vetoing a total of 40. Internet betting was one of those bills, and you can thank Sheldon Adelson.

Had Snyder signed the bill, Michigan would have become the 5th state to legalize and regulate online gambling, following New Jersey, Nevada, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

The veto is a big win for Sheldon Adelson’s Coalition To Stop Internet Gambling, which seemingly convinced Snyder to veto the bill.
