US Poker – Those looking forward to legalized iGaming in Massachusetts will have to wait until next year. Bluff Magazine reported earlier today that plans for online gambling expansion have been put on hold for now but the matter is drawing serious attention.
James McHugh, one of the Commissioners from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission spoke recently at the USA Online Gambling Forum in Atlantic City. It was there that he revealed the state of current online gambling legislation. IGaming Player shared his revelation via Twitter.
This recent admission is a stark contrast of his opinions just one moth ago during the Internet Gaming Forum held in Boston. His remarks during that conference led some to peg Massachusetts as a frontrunner to legalize the game in 2014, but it appears that conservatives in the state may have quelled some of that optimism. Some believe that the state should take a more reserved approach towards iGaming.
Three attempts have been made to legalize online gambling in the state. Last year, iGaming was attached to the state budget but was dropped before the budget was finalized. Two other bills are currently still under consideration by the legislature.
