What an interesting week in Sin City! It’s once again time for a Lady Gaga Las Vegas show at the Park MGM! Plus, rumors are flying that the Casino Royale will be torn down, and you won’t believe what could be built in it’s place! Not only that, but the new Durango Casino will soon open in south-west Las Vegas!
Hello all you beautiful players out there! And welcome to This Week in Gambling, where we’ve got stories from Lady Gaga Las Vegas to Musha and Mermaids, with a little bit of Durango mixed in… but first, it’s this week’s big story! There’s this rumor floating around that the beloved Casino Royale, located right in the center of the Las Vegas Strip, will soon be torn down to make way for a brand new casino resort. Of course, this rumor is based on some actual paperwork that’s been filed.
Right now, Casino Royale is just some little old, 150 room hotel stuck between Harrah’s and the Venetian. But if the rumors are true, and management gets their wish, that hotel will soon be gone and replaced by a 700 foot tall Resort Tower! And they have until January of 2025 to get the job done! To give you an idea of the scope of this project, you have Harrah’s on one side that’s just 350 feet tall… the Venetian on the other side that’s 475 feet tall… now imagine, if you will, a Casino Royale Tower sticking up in between them at 700 feet! But remember, it’s just a rumor!
You know what else was just a rumor? Lady Gaga Las Vegas and another residency! And yet, here we are! Starting later this month, Lady Gaga will be back at the Park MGM for 12 shows, and tickets are on sale now! The Jazz & Piano Tour has her performing music from the Great American Songbook, as well as versions of her own hits! Tickets start at just over $90, but if Lady Gaga is not your style there are a variety of great shows headed to Sin City!
Also, we just published two new video reviews for slot machines, starting with Musha from AGS! An Asian themed game that’s part of the Epic Reels family and comes with the Cash On Reels game mechanic, a Reel Grow Bonus, and even a Wheel Feature! Next it’s the Mystical Pearl Mermaid slot machine from Konami Gaming! It comes with four jackpots, a Hold and Spin Bonus, and Free Spins! Both of these video reviews are available right now on our YouTube channel!
Finally this week, the new Durango Casino is scheduled to open in Las Vegas this fall, just before Thanksgiving to be precise. And the other day they finally turned their lights on! That is, they finally lit up the sign out front! The 130 foot display has over 6 million LED lights, and the new Durango Casino will have 200 rooms, 15 restaurants, a pool with Cabanas, convention space, and of course free parking! To get there you’re going to have to get off The Strip just a little bit, as the casino is located in the southwest part of Las Vegas, off of Durango Drive. Hey! The Durango Casino is on Durango Drive?! What are the odds of that?
