The Nanum Lotto consortium, which includes gaming technology supplier Intralot, has been awarded an extended licence to operate South Korea’s national lottery for the next five years.
The Korea Lottery Commission awarded the licence to the consortium, which has been exclusively operating the country’s national lottery since 2007.
Under the new licence, Nanum Lotto will be responsible for operating the country’s online and instant products as well as the electronic lottery, with a new “localised” lottery system to be launched in December.
Intralot will provide system operations, monitoring services, consulting services related to online and instant products, and technological support.
The consortium also features the Eugene group, Daewoo Information Systems, NH Bank, Windyplan, SG&G, Samsung Publishing, Bixolon, and Youngwoo.
“We are very satisfied that we will continue this significant project, further strengthening our leading position in South Korea and the wider Asian region,” Intralot chief executive officer Constantinos Antonopoulos said.
“The successful and profitable operation of the South Korean Lottery during the past five years, supported by Intralot’s state-of-the-art technology, led to the renewal of the licence of our consortium to operate the national lottery in South Korea.

Over the last five years, the national lottery has posted a sales increase of about 25% through a single game, 6/45 Lotto.
