Eight leading social games companies including Plumbee Limited and Zynga Incorporated have joined forces to officially launch the International Social Games Coalition.
The International Social Games Coalition was first informally premiered in April at a meeting in San Francisco and stated that it will now showcase the industry’s work and ‘educate people about free-to-play games on the Internet’.
“The social games industry is at the heart of our emerging digital economy, so as it continues to grow it is essential that the sector has a collective voice,” said Luc Delaney, a former senior executive with Facebook and new Chief Executive Officer for the International Social Games Coalition.
“The International Social Games Coalition brings together some of the industry’s most exciting and innovative companies that create great entertainment for millions of people around the world.”
The International Social Games Coalition declared that it intends to ‘act as a voice’ for the fast-growing social games industry at a time when ‘many changes in the way millions of people access, play and pay for games are taking place’. Additional founding members include RocketPlay, Playtika Limited, PlayStudios, International Game Technology (IGT), Gamesys Limited and Aristocrat Leisure Limited. The organisation also intends to additionally explain to the public, policymakers and regulators what the sector does, how it works and the value it generates for players and the digital economy.
