GTECH subsidiary agrees Colorado Lottery deal

lottery lottoiGaming Business – GTECH Corporation, a subsidiary of global lottery and gaming company GTECH, has signed a lottery gaming system and services contract with the Colorado Lottery to provide a full range of lottery products and ongoing services.

The contract, which follows a competitive procurement, will begin on November 2, 2014 and run through to June 30, 2021. There are also a maximum of two, two-year extensions that may be exercised in whole or in part at the discretion of the Colorado Lottery.

GTECH has estimated that it will receive approximately $70 million (€51.7 million) in revenues over the base term.

Under the deal, GTECH will provide the Colorado Lottery with expandable technology, retail solutions and data-driven tools that the company said had been designed to help increase the US state’s revenue.

GTECH’s Enterprise Series (ES) central system solution will support all levels of the Lottery’s sales growth, while 3,200 new Altura GT1200 terminals will replace the Lottery’s existing terminal base.

In addition, GTECH will introduce ES Multimedia digital advertising displays to help stimulate brand awareness, winner awareness and player recognition of jackpots and game activities at the point-of-sale.

GTECH’s Ticket-Scan self-service ticket checkers will also allow players secure access when identifying winning tickets, while the firm will also provide 600 Gemini self-service lottery product vending machines and an IP-communications network.

The Colorado Lottery also has the option to purchase additional products over the course of the contract.

GTECH will operate from its primary data centre in Pueblo, Colorado, with a back-up centre based in Austin, Texas.

Ongoing services that GTECH will provide under the deal include operation and maintenance of the ES central system and communications network; terminal maintenance; retailer training; field services; and hotline management.

“This contract is important to GTECH as it allows us to re-establish a relationship with the Colorado Lottery which dates back to 1988 when we first brought the Lottery online,” GTECH’s Americas president and chief executive officer, Jaymin B. Patel, said.

“We have conducted comprehensive retailer and consumer research studies in Colorado to gain a better understanding of the marketplace today, and in the future.”
