Australian interactive lottery firm Jumbo Interactive Limited has announced that it has been awarded five-year licenses enabling it to sell official lotteries via the web and mobile in every one of Germany’s 16 states.

Awarded through its German subsidiary, the licenses will see Jumbo Interactive permitted to sell lottery games including the EuroJackpot, Lotto 6 From 49, Keno, Plus 5, Super 6, Spiel 77 and GlucksSpirale to the nation’s estimated 68 million eligible players on a non-exclusive basis.

“Jumbo Interactive now has all the licenses it needs to start selling across the entire country,” said Mike Veverka, CEO for Brisbane-based Jumbo Interactive Limited.

“Our team is working quickly to release the website before the end of 2013. Based on trends in neighbouring countries, the German Internet lottery market is expected to reach $1.82bn in five years.”

Jumbo Interactive stated that it will now seek to finalise operational agreements with each one of Germany’s 16 state lottery operators although it has already inked deals in Schleswig-Holstein, Baden Weurttemberg and Berlin.

“Jumbo Interactive’s 13 years of experience in growing Internet lotteries in Australia together with our industry-leading software platform places us in a good position as the German Internet lottery market opens up,” said Veverka.

Jumbo Interactive declared that its online lottery software platform has been ‘in constant development’ for 13 years and is now being adapted for the German market in order to provide it with a ‘key advantage’ in the market and ensure ‘all players receive the best available online experience’.
