Gambling in Sweden is set for a major expansion, as the country has issued issued 16 new gaming licenses. The country’s local gaming regulator, Lotteriinspektionen, announced that it has granted licence applications for those gaming companies ahead of the reorganization of the local market due at the beginning of 2019.
The regulator said that so far it has received 93 license applications, and more than 70 involve games in the online gaming market. The entity, which is set to change its name to Spelinspektionen at the end of the year, emphasizes that this is the first of many decisions to be announced.
The companies that have been licensed for gambling in Sweden are: AB Svenska Spel licence for gaming, subject to state, lottery and vending machines; AB Horse racing (ATG) – license for online gaming and betting; Autonordic Ltd. (Sweden Slot) – licence online; Betsson – license for online gaming and betting; Casumo – license for online gaming and betting; ElectraWorks Limited (Bwin, PartyPoker) – license for online gaming and betting; Hillside Sports (Bet365) – license for betting; Hillside Gaming (Bet365) – license for online gaming.
