After fifteen years, the Fontainebleau Las Vegas is finally set to open! But at the other end of The Strip, the Tropicana is set to close to make way for a new baseball stadium! We’ve also got updates from the Bellagio and the Paris, and rumors of the return of Bally’s Las Vegas!
Several weeks ago we told you that Las Vegas was going to be getting a major league baseball team, and that the city was going to build that team a brand new baseball stadium. And this week, that story got a lot more interesting! Originally, there were rumors that the Rio would be torn down in order to make room for the new stadium, but that never happened. Now we know that the new stadium is going to be built right smack on the Las Vegas Strip, where the Tropicana currently stands!
Whether you consider it a landmark or an eyesore, the Tropicana will soon be torn down to make way for the new stadium. But have no fear, because a brand new casino will be built right next to the stadium on the same property! So… a new Tropicana? While there has been no official word as of yet, Bally Corporation owns the Tropicana. They’re the ones that made the deal for the new baseball stadium. So, speculation is that the new casino they build could be… the new Bally’s Las Vegas!
Of course, the Tropicana coming down and the potential of a new Bally’s going up were not the only headlines this week. In fact, the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, which has been under construction in Las Vegas since 2007, just announced they’re almost ready to open their doors… almost. Yes, that big, blue, 67-story building that’s been sitting empty on the North End of the Strip for the past 15 years is finally going to open this December! The Fontainebleau (however you pronounce that name) will be a luxury high-end resort with over 3,600 rooms! So be ready to make your reservations this fall!
Slot lovers, we haven’t forgotten about you this week. In fact, we just released three brand new game reviews for you, starting with Surfin’ Joker, with three reels and five paylines from GameArt. It has medium volatility, a buy bonus, a gamble feature, and free spins! Then there’s Candy Palace from Amusenet, with five rows and six cascading reels. It has an average return to player of over 96%, plus free spins and multiple jackpots. Finally it’s Magical Reels online slot from Microgaming, a 20 payline slot with five reels where players collect bonus stars to gather special symbols, build multipliers, and unlock free spins!
Finally this week, with the Tropicana set for the wrecking ball, and Fontainebleau Las Vegas set to open this fall, Sin City is always changing… and that includes the Bellagio and the Paris! In fact, the Bellagio just started a $100 million dollar transformation to more than 800 of their rooms and 100 of their Suites! This redesign includes living areas, bedrooms, and corridors… with the first renovated rooms available for guests starting in July.
Then at the Paris they’re dropping another $100 million to transform the Jubilee Towers at the Horseshoe into the Versailles Towers at the Paris, which will add over 750 redesigned rooms to that Resort! Those changes should be done this fall, plus to make the experience of staying at the Paris even more authentic staff have agreed to be more rude and off-putting than usual… and to quit wearing deodorant this summer.
