iGaming Business – Paris-based casual games developer Pretty Simple’s hidden-object adventure game title Criminal Case has been named as the ‘Game of the Year 2013’ by social network Facebook.
According to the VentureBeat.com website, Criminal Case topped a list of 23 games that Facebook regarded as the best of 2013.
Selected by Facebook staff, the list is based on user ratings, Facebook implementation, growth and overall quality.
Criminal Case, which combines crime scene investigation with sharing mechanics, grew organically during the first half of the year, while content updates and additional cases also helped drive growth in the second half of the year.
The list also includes eight cross-platform titles that integrate with Facebook on both internet and mobile platforms.
Of the 23 titles on the list, seven are midcore or hardcore titles, while five are arcade games and five are casino games.
A total of ten of the title come from studios based in Europe of the Middle East, while eight come from ‘indie’ studios.
In addition to paying tribute to titles released in 2013, the list also highlighted four games that were launched in 2012 but are still performing well today.
The additional four games comprise DoubleDown Casino, Slotomania, Farmville 2 and the hugely successful Candy Crush Saga title from mobile games developer King.
