Durango Casino Already Expanding

We first mentioned the Durango Casino in one of our weekly news videos back 2022 when it was still just an idea. The property has only been open since December of 2023, but already their owner, Station Casinos, in preparing for a $116 million expansion as part of the second phase of development.

Construction for the expansion project has already began and is expected to take 12 months. It will bring significant enhancements to the property, including expanded gaming options and a large new parking structure. The casino will grow by 25,000 square feet, adding a high-limit slot and bar area with 230 new slot machines, 120 of which will be dedicated exclusively to the high-limit room.

Additionally, a new parking garage with nearly 2,000 spaces will be built south of the casino’s south entrance. Station Casinos notes that these additions are aimed at enhancing the guest experience by offering more gaming choices and improved parking convenience. During construction, visitors can continue to use complimentary valet services, surface parking, and the existing north garage.

Durango Casino & Resort, which opened in December 2023, has quickly become popular among Las Vegas locals, earning critical praise and boosting regional gaming revenue. Expansion plans were announced in early 2024 after a strong initial performance.

This project is part of Station Casinos’ broader development strategy, a subsidiary of Red Rock Resorts, which is also investing in major renovations at its Green Valley Ranch and Sunset Station properties in Henderson. According to a recent year-end analysis by Deutsche Bank, Durango Casino & Resort has emerged as a key growth driver in the locals market.
