US 2020 World Series of Poker Winner from Louisiana
A new champion was crowned at the Rio recently. The 2020 World Series of Poker for America was won by Joseph Hebert, a Louisiana native, who took home well over $1.5 million. After the event the 38 year old told PokerNews.com that he was “…really confident. I was excited to play and it was just a battle.” It was also an emotional victory for Hebert, who lost his mother last summer after suffering a pulmonary embolism. PokerStars Lawsuit Nets Kentucky Over $1 Billion
In another primes example of good ol’ boy politics in the 21st Century, the PokerStars lawsuit filed by the Bluegrass buddies of Kentucky will apparently cost PokerStars over $1 billion. Originally, Kentucky filed the lawsuit as a result of the poker operator accepting bets from the state post-UIGEA. The ruling in the PokerStars lawsuit case originally awarded $870 million, but was overturned on appeal. Despite a raging pandemic, officials have been able to arrange an amazing situation to play the 2020 WSOP Main Event.
