Atlantic City Casinos Back to Pre-Pandemic Earnings
A glimmer of hope in a mostly dim economic outlook finds Atlantic City casinos have joined the gambling revenue party. Even as the threat of recession looms on the horizon, profits for the East Coast gambling mecca hit over $440 million for April, which is the highest since early 2019. The numbers were published by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement and show that despite the continued explosion of sports betting across America, it’s been the Atlantic City casinos that have generated to most profit. Gamblers have been returning to casinos in droves to make bets in person, even…
American Gambling Revenue Remains Strong
Gambling revenue in the United States is still setting records, despite the troubling economic clouds on the horizon. April of this year was the second best month ever recorded for American gaming, only trailing March of this year when the all-time revenue record was set.. Nearly $5 billion was generated in gambling revenue for April, which was a gain of well over 12% from the year before. Traditional casino gaming accounted for over $4 billion of that total, while online gambling chipped in over $415 million. Sports betting managed to contribute nearly $500 million, which was close to a 75%…
Some Stations Casinos Still Closed
With at least three Station Casinos still closed in the Las Vegas area, the company has announced that they could remain shuttered for at least another year. Fiesta Rancho, Fiesta Henderson, and Texas Station are all still closed, and Station says that two of those properties have been approved by The North Las Vegas City Council to stay closed until at least June 4, 2023. Like so many others, these closures all began when the Coronavirus pandemic hit. At its height, up to 98% of Culinary Union workers were laid off. In fact, the Texas Station parking garage was being…
Virginia Politicians Want to Ban Casino Skill Games
Some Virginia legislative leaders are working to get language into a gambling bill at the last minute which would ban casino skill games. State businessman and NASCAR great Hermie Sadler slammed the politicians doing so, saying they would hurt small businesses and disregard their constitutional rights by doing so. According to draft budget language released on May 29th, a small handful of legislative leaders, working behind closed doors and with no public input, have inserted wording into the budget proposal that would radically alter the existing criminal code and ban casino skill games. This language is nearly identical to what…
Save the Mirage Volcano!
Some view the Mirage Volcano as a Las Vegas icon. But the city has had many icons over the years. From Sinatra and the Rat Pack to Siegfried & Roy, and even the more recent tenures of Celine and Elton. But Vegas has also lost many of their more iconic casinos as well. Gone are The Stardust, Aladdin, Riviera, and New Frontier. It seems the only thing that’s a certainty in Sin City is change. Now, the old Hard Rock Casino was rebranded as Virgin in 2021. But that doesn’t mean that the Hard Rock has left Vegas forever. Quite…
14 Months of $1 Billion Gambling Revenue in Nevada
The streak continues! April was the 14th month in a row where gambling revenue in Nevada topped the $1 billion mark. But how much longer can this wild ride last? Even though the numbers are still impressive, April was the first month of this billion dollar streak to see almost no growth. The figures seem to have stalled for the moment, and we will have to wait for May’s numbers to know if the record breaking run is over. There are some concerns that the state may be entering a “slow growth” period, and that the rising rate of inflation…
