WSOP at the Horseshoe Starts in May

A historic hotel with a legendary Vegas name! The WSOP at the Horseshoe begins in just over a month, and it will be played at the iconic casino which once again  stands on The Strip. Caesars Entertainment recently celebrated the name change from Bally’s Las Vegas, just in time for the upcoming 54th annual poker championship. The 2,800-room property, which was once the site of the MGM Grand Hotel, has a storied history. Horseshoe Las Vegas Officially Opens

The transformation of Bally’s Casino to the Las Vegas Horseshoe is now complete! Yes, we welcomed the rebranded property to the center of the Las Vegas Strip in our gambling news video back in December. But today is Caesar’s “official” opening, as they welcome poker legend Doyle Brunson, who played at the original Horseshoe, to the ceremony. The Las Vegas Sands is reportedly leading the charge in a move to expand gambling in Texas by constructing a resort-style casino in the state. While discussions are still in the preliminary stages, the casino company’s interest in expanding its operations to Texas is significant, given that the state has long been viewed as a bastion of conservative values that are traditionally not very receptive to gambling. New Jersey Gambling Grows to $412 Million

New Jersey gambling revenue is keeping pace with the rest of the country. The state of Nevada kept their streak of billion dollar months rolling along int he month of January, and gambling across America set a record of $5.5 billion at the same time. Now, New Jersey has reported a jump of over 10% in their revenue. The Division of Gaming Enforcement reported that the casino win for New Jersey’s nine casinos came in at $215 million for February, which was a modest growth of 1.2% from last year. Another Record Month for US Gambling

It was a banner year for the US gambling industry in 2022. That momentum appears to have carried over in the first month of 2023, as yet another record was set for revenue in a single month. Our friends at the American Gaming Association keep track of these sorts of things, and they report a combined $5.5 billion brought in this past January.
