Vegas Strike Averted as Agreements Reached

Yesterday we reported that Caesars Entertainment has reached an agreement with the Union to avoid a Vegas strike. Today we can share that Wynn and MGM Resorts have also come to an agreement with workers to avoid a work stoppage. Union representatives reported earlier today that a “tentative agreement” had been reached with the two remaining resorts that will get employees new new five-year contracts, narrowly missing today’s 5am deadline. The 11th hour deal to avoid a Las Vegas strike comes just days before the Las Vegas Grand Prix is scheduled to begin, with the 100,000 tourists expected to come…

Caesars Surrenders as Strike Date Approaches

Just one day before workers across Las Vegas are set to walk off the job, Caesars Entertainment has reached an agreement with the Union. The deal was struck after a “historic” 20 hours negotiation session between the two sides, although details have not been made public. This does not mean that a Las Vegas strike has been averted, as there has been no announcement of an agreement reached between Union representatives and the other two operators involved. Talks with MGM Resorts and Wynn Resorts continue, but the deadline for the work stoppage is now less than 24 hours away. Union…

Las Vegas Casinos Prepare for Work Stoppage

As over 30,000 workers across Clark County prepare for a strike, the Las Vegas casinos which will be impacted by the stoppage are preparing for the worst. In an ominous sign of things to come, management at these resorts is making plans to keep their properties running in a “worst case” scenario. Employees at MGM, Caesars, and Wynn properties are seeking a new, five-year contract before their November 10th deadline. Now, contingency plans are being implemented across the 18 Las Vegas casinos effected. This includes hiring new employees. On the other side, the Union representing the workers is also making…

Postcard from Earth at the Las Vegas Sphere

The Las Vegas Sphere’s very first feature attraction is the Postcard from Earth show. The Darren Aronofsky production is being billed as the “first multi-sensory film” ever created, and it lives up to the billing. We attended one of the very first Postcard from Earth showing, and while we were there to see the amazing 16k resolution, we did enjoy the haptic “feel” the stadium produces, as well as the gentle breezes that make you feel like you outdoors rather than in such a grand arena! Enjoy this preview of Postcard from Earth! Darren Aronofsky’s latest cinematic creation has made…

Las Vegas Strike Set for November 10th

We’ve been following the threat of a Las Vegas strike for about a month now. We even reported that an agreement had been reached. Apparently however, that agreement wasn’t quite as agreeable as we were told. And now, the Culinary Union in Sin City has drawn a line in the sand. November 10th is the date set for a the strike to begin, and the fact that the workers plan to walk out just six days before the Las Vegas Grand Prix is no coincidence. The workers know that a city-wide strike would throw the entire town and the race…

Florida Sports Betting Relaunch Set for December

Recent legal victories for the Seminole Tribe have led to their decision to relaunch Florida sports betting next month. The tribe says that in addition to accepting wagers on sporting events at all six of their casinos, they will also begin accepting bets on roulette and craps games. Following the US Supreme Court decision to deny a motion against Florida sports betting, Governor, Ron DeSantis welcomed the Seminole’s plans to launch move forward. The High Court’s decision effectively cleared the way for the Seminoles to proceed. Craps, roulette and sports betting will be launched on December 7th at Seminole Hard…
