Nevada to Help Former Mirage Employees
Hard Rock recently confirmed the closure of Mirage Las Vegas, and that they would layoff the 3,000 plus Mirage employees when the resort closes in July. That’s not great news to the families who depend on those jobs, especially after the company had stated the hotel would not shut down during the transition. Now a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification has been filed with the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation to help those displaced Mirage employees find new jobs. They will also assist individuals with health insurance options, job training, workshops, and planning a budget. Additionally, the resort…
Updates for Virgin and Paris Las Vegas
There is always fresh renovation work happening in Sin City. One exciting change is currently happening at Paris Las Vegas, where the resort is seeing the addition of balconies for some of their rooms. This is actually part of the Horseshoe renovation work, as they old Jubilee tower that was part of Bally’s has been turned over to Paris Las Vegas. It will now become the Versailles tower, and the work in progress to rebrand the tower includes these balconies. The views of the Strip from these new rooms should be amazing, although we doubt anyone at Cosmo will be…

Commercial US gaming revenue continued its slow growth during the first quarter of this year, but still managed to expand by a healthy margin compared to the same time last year. This according to data compiled by the American Gaming Association from state regulatory disclosures. The industry realized year-over-year growth across both land-based and online gaming, though at slower rates than in the recent past. The numbers shows that combined US gaming revenue from commercially operated land-based casinos, sports betting and iGaming increased by 5.6% year-over-year, reaching nearly $17.7 billion for the first quarter. It was also the 13th consecutive…
States Say “No” to Dave & Buster’s Gambling
Last week, we released a video detailing plans for how Dave & Buster’s gambling could become a real thing. The company has plans to roll out peer-to-peer betting through their app for guests in their restaurants who are over 18 years of age. We also speculated that this would run into legal challenges, and we were right. Of course, this was sort of easy to predict so we can’t be too proud of ourselves. The Dave & Buster’s gambling announcement sparked immediate responses from gaming regulators and lawmakers alike, with questions of legality and concerns of underage betting. The company…
