Yes, another rumor floating around Las Vegas. This time that the Casino Royale will be torn down and replaced with a 700 foot tall resort. So, is there any truth to the demolition rumors? Well, there’s a little bit of truth in all good rumors, so let’s take a look.
First, Casino Royale sits in the middle of The Strip, sort of like a reminder of old Las Vegas. It’s run by Best Western, but it’s a small hotel with only about 150 rooms. Still, in Sin City it’s all about location… and this place has one of the best. And now, the owners have filed some interesting paperwork.
The powers that run Casino Royale have now received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to transformative the property into a tower standing nearly 700 feet tall! However, the FAA’s approval has an expiration date of January 21, 2025. And believe it or not, that is cutting things pretty close.
Building anything in Las Vegas takes time. Usually lots and lots of time (just ask the boys at Fontainebleau). However, their neighbors on The Strip at the Outback Steakhouse have been told of their impending closure, which means the rumors are likely true… and that the project is about to get underway!
Of course, if the Casino Royale project starts now, it will run smack into the repaving project for the big F1 Race this November. But hey, there is always something under construction. Whether or not is has the budget to be completed is another thing (just as the boys at Dream Las Vegas).
